Revised Activities for the 2012 Regent Ghana Students Union Elections.
The Electoral Commissioner of Regent Ghana Student Union, Mr. Patrick Seyram Klutse, has announced for the information of the general student body that the activities for the 2012 elections has been revised. Subsequently, the dates for the general eletions scheduled for the 13th and 14th of April, 2012 have been rescheduled to 20th and 21st of April, 2012 respecyively. Other activities planned in line with the elections have accordingly been rescheduled.
The following reasons have necessitated this change:
- Per the RGSU Constitution, elections should have been organised on the third week of April (20th and 21st of April) which coincided with the initial graduation date. Holding the election on the previously scheduled date of 28th of April 2012 will therefore breach the Regent-Ghana Paliamentary Constitution.
- The weekend school will be resuming lectures on the 13th of April, 2012, the same day of the elections. Holding elections on this day will again mean that aspirants will not have the opportunity to formally sell their manifestoes to the Weekend School.
