The Regent Ghana Students’ Parliament (RGSP) on Monday, the 18th of March, 2013 launched its Air Force Cadet, website and a welfare scheme at a colourful ceremony held at the Car Park of the City Campus. The guest speaker for the programme was Hon. Mavis Hawa Koomson (Member of Parliament for Awutu Senya East Constituency).
Guests in attendance included: Dr. Ohene (Registrar of Regent University), Mr. Albert Amonoo (Senior Vice-President of Regent University), Senior Inspector Baidoo from the Ghana Immigration Service (former Deputy Speaker of RGSP), Mr. Yaw Boadi (ESS Director of Regent University), Nana Akomeah (former Speaker of RGSP) and Mr. Agyeman-Badu (Internal Auditor, Regent University).
The programme commenced at 2:00pm with an inaugural drill session by the Regent Air Force Cadet followed by a cultural performance by the resident cultural troupe of the Royal Seed Home, an orphanage adopted by the Regent Ghana Students’ Parliament.
The opening address was delivered by Dr. Ohene. An inspection of the cadet corps was led by the Guest speaker Hon. Mavis Hawa Koomson, accompanied by Mr. Amonoo, Dr. Ohene, Mr. Agyeman-Badu and Senior Inspector Baidoo.
In her speech after the inspection; Hon. Mavis Hawa Koomson challenged students to take active interest in student leadership to affect their generation positively.
The Speaker of the Regent Ghana Students’ Parliament, Rt. Hon. Nadia Darko Lartey in her address declared the Cadet Corps, the welfare scheme and the Regent Student’s Website duly launched.
There was a final cadet display by the newly-launched cadet and the Vote of thanks giving by the RGSP Women’s Commissioner, Hon. Agnes Asare Konadu.
The closing prayer was said by the Governor of the Ubuntu Society, Hon. Hannah Quansah.
The Regent Ghana Students’ Parliament is the governing body of the Regent Ghana Student’s Union which represents the student body within the university’s governance structure.
