Brief history about Regent University College of Science and Technology

Regent University College of Science and Technology (often referred to as Regent-Ghana) is located in Accra, Ghana. It was registered in September 2003, and received accreditation to operate as a tertiary institution in 2004. In January 2005 it started its lectures with 30 pioneer students at Trinity Campus, Mataheko. Now, the University operates from its purpose built campus, located at McCarthy Hill, off the Mallam-Kasoa-Winneba Highway. It is recognized as one of the leading private science and technology Universities in Ghana. In the 14th edition of the Webometrics Ranking of World Universities, Regent was ranked third best university in Ghana. Regent University College of Science and Technology was ranked the best private University in Ghana in the July 2020 edition of the Webometrics Ranking of World Universities. Regent is ranked 7th University overall in Ghana in the same edition of the bi-annual ranking.

Organization

The University College has four schools - the School of Business, Leadership and Legal Studies (SBLL), the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, the Faculty of Engineering, Computing and Allied Sciences (FECAS) , and the School of Research and Graduate Studies (SRGS).

  • School of Business, Leadership, and Legal Studies (SBLL):
    This school specializes in business administration, leadership, and legal studies. It offers undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in business management, leadership, and legal studies
  • Faculty of Arts and Sciences (FAS):
    The Faculty of Engineering, Computing, and Allied Sciences (FECAS) is dedicated to advancing knowledge in engineering, computing, and related fields. It offers undergraduate programmes in various engineering disciplines, computer science, information technology, and other allied sciences.
  • Faculty of Engineering, Computing, and Allied Sciences (FECAS):
    This faculty is dedicated to engineering, computing, and related fields. It offers undergraduate programs in engineering disciplines, computer science, information technology, and other allied sciences.
  • Regent Graduate School(RGS):
    i. This school oversees all postgraduate degree programmes offered by the University College. It offers postgraduate programmes, including MSc. Statistics, Master of Divinity, Master of Theology, MSc. Law and Corporate Administration, and MSc./MPhil. Energy and Sustainability Management. At the doctoral level, it provides PhD programmes in Business Management (with specializations in Human Resource Management, Investment Strategy, Finance, Accounting, Procurement, and Supply Chain Management), Construction Management, Computer Engineering, Psychology, Management Information Systems, Marketing, Communication and Media Management, Political and International Relations, Educational Administration, Tourism and Hospitality Management, and Law

Apart from the schools and faculties, there are two additional centers:

i. Language Centre: This center provides language support and instruction to students, aiming to enhance their reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills.
ii. Centre for Academic Writing: This centre assists students with academic writing by offering guidance, workshops, and resources to help improve their writing across disciplines.

FFurthermore, the University College offers interdisciplinary programmes that transcend the boundaries of schools and disciplines. These programmes foster collaboration between different faculties and integrate multiple areas of study.
