Regent Team First Runner Up in Hult Prize National Competition
A team of students from Regent University College of Science and Technology has emerged as the first runner-up in the Hult Prize National Competition, which took place today, March 9, 2024, at MEST in Accra.
The Hult Prize is an annual international competition that challenges university students to solve pressing social issues through innovative business ideas.
The Regent team presented a smart alert system that switches appliances on and off using SMS messages, along with a smart fire detector.
The Regent team won second place to University of Energy and Natural Resources, beating the team from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, which came in third place. A total of 9 University teams competed in the National Competition.
The team comprised Andrews Owusu-Sekyere (Bachelor of Engineering student, Level 400), Christabel Quarcoo (BSc. Management with Computing student, Level 400), and Aseda Kofi Ayeh-Bampoe (Bachelor of Engineering student, Level 100).
